From Melksham: head towards Box and Bath on the A365, on entering the village of Atworth look for the clock tower on the left hand side and take a left hand turn (if you have reached the petrol station you have gone too far!). Bear left at the junction with The Forresters (former inn) in front of you. Proceed for approximately half a mile and the entrance to the Stonar School is on your right hand side. Please follow the drive up to the school then bear right and park behind the main building. Follow the signpost to the main hall for registration.
From Bath: follow the A4 to Corsham then the A365 to Melksham. Upon entering the village of Atworth turn rigth after the petrol station and before the clock tower then follow the above instructions. |

Drama - Tristan Carter
After spending many years working in the world of banking and treading the boards at the Bristol Hippodrome and
The Theatre Royal Bath with local amateur companies, Tristan completed a diploma at The Guildford School of Acting and became
a professional actor and a teacher of drama. Over the years he has performed at many West End Venues including The London Palladium,
The Theatre Royal Drury Lane, The Savoy Theatre and The Royal Albert Hall. He toured the country with Shakespeare4Kidz and
understudied Jason Connery in the 2003 tour of The Blue Room with Tracey Shaw. He has also performed all over the country in
many other theatre productions, concerts and galas. Alongside his acting career Tristan taught drama for five years at various
private theatre schools and secondary schools before becoming the co-founder of Curtain Up. He is currently studying for a degree
in performing arts and a teaching certificate with the London Academy of Music and Drama.

Dance - Helen Gavin
Helen trained at Arts Educational under Arleene Phillips before starting a hugely varied career as a dancer and choreographer. Over the years she has worked with many great choreographers including Nigel Lythgoe, Brian Rogers, Norman Maen and Tudor Davies. Her work in the theatre includes shows for, Cannon & Ball, Ken Dodd and Cilla Black. Television credits include Russ Abbott, 3-2-1 , Royal Varieties, Royal Commands, and the Live from the Palladium / Piccadilly / Her Majesty's series. Helen also choreographed for Take That during their first tour. She is currently teaching dance at various outlets for various age groups and still enjoys being part of the performing arts!

Singing - Maria Garcia
María García began the piano at the age four and at the age of seven was accepted in to the Conservatorio Superior de Música de Murcia .
She graduated in 1996 with a piano degree earning the highest honors and a first prize.
In 1999 she won a scholarship to study for a post graduate at Trinity College of Music, London, under Hillary Coates where she was also awarded
the Mehroo and Byram Jeejeebhoy prize for exceptional competition success within TCM. María Ángel has completed the Artist Certificate at Southern Methodist
University where she has expanded her interest for chamber music and vocal coaching. She has been the principal pianist for Crazy for You by Gershiwn,
The Sound of Music and West Side Story.
She works in and around Bath as pianist, vocal and instrumental coach. |
The Principal - Sarah Carter
Sarah co-founded Curtain Up in January 2004, She originally trained at bath University as a pharmacist graduating with a 1st Class Honours degree, and later spent many years as Deputy Chief Pharmacist at a private hospital in Guildford, specialising in oncology. Her career as a pharmacist involved training and teaching fellow colleagues, junior staff and doctors in hospitals and teaching pharmacy students at Bath University, the principles of which can all be applied to organising and running a theatre school! Over the last year, Sarah, alongside Tristan, has successfully created Curtain Up drama schools in Bath, Chew Magna, Melksham and Radstock and ensured over 65 students passed their Trinity examinations with exceptional results. |
